Barcelona confirms the success of the surgery on Asisat Oshoala


Barcelona Football Club confirmed that Nigerian international Asisat Oshoala had successfully undergone surgery on her foot.

Oshola missed Santa Teresa's victory after she injured herself in the Champions League quarter-final first leg match against Denmark champion Fortuna Herring last month.

She was later allowed to participate in the second leg against Fortuna in the UEFA Women's Champions League and the injury worsened after appearing in five consecutive matches.

Barcelona has now confirmed that the operation the 26-year-old performed on her right foot by Dr. Josep Dalmau at the club's facility went well.

A statement issued by the club's website read: "According to the club's medical services, player Asisat Oshoala underwent surgery on her right foot on Tuesday."

The player had been in discomfort for a few weeks, which made her miss a match, like the one in Santa Teresa.

"The intervention was performed by Dr. Dalmau, under the supervision of Barcelona's medical services. Recovering the player will mark her return to the field of play."

Oshoala, who competed in 20 La Liga matches in the 2020-21 season with 15 goals.
