The Emirate of Katsina removed the head of the district from office

The head of Kankara district, Abubakar Yusuf, has been suspended by the Emirate of Katsina for his involvement in banditry.

Yusuf was suspended on a complaint from the public and a security charge against him.

Alhaji Mamman Ifo, Sarkin Yakin Katsina and Katsina Emirati Council Secretary told BBC House that the traditional ruler’s sanction was intended to complement the government’s efforts in the fight against banditry in the state.

Mamman Ifo said the emirate has already set up a special committee to investigate allegations against the district chief.

Once the commission completes its investigation, he said, it will submit its report to the government, and if the besieged district chief is found not guilty, he will be reinstated.
