Kelechi Iheanacho joined the exclusive list of Nigerian players who have scored 30 or more goals in the APL since Leicester City’s 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at King Power Stadium on Thursday night.

Iheanacho scored Leicester City’s third goal of the evening nine minutes before the end of the first half after a great move by the team.

It was his ninth goal in the Premier League this season. The move also increased the Super Eagles striker’s tally to 13 goals in all competitions in 2021.

The Nigerian has surpassed his previous record with eight goals in 26 games for Manchester City in the 2015 season.

The striker has so far scored 30 goals in 136 appearances for Leicester City and his former club Manchester City, making him the sixth highest goalscorer in the APL in Nigeria.

Former Everton and Portsmouth striker Yakubu Aybe leads the list with 95 goals, Arsenal legend Nwanko Kanu is 54th and Ivan Ikuko is third with 52 goals.

In the 2014 World Cup final in Brazil, Shula Amiobi, who was part of Nigeria, finished fifth with Osazi Odemwingey, scoring 43 goals for himself and 36 goals.
