University Of Cape Town On Fire
The University of Cape Town (UCT) said on Sunday that all students on its campus were being evacuated by emergency services support staff as the fire spread to campus area.
In a statement, UCT said students were taken to pre-determined locations after a fire broke out that engulfed part of the Rhodes Memorial restaurant.
UCT spokeswoman Elijah Moholola said the university was evacuating hydrogen tanks from its research laboratories.
“Right now we don’t have any information and we won’t get it anytime soon as teams are working on different aspects of fire protection. As soon as we share more information, we’ll do it and answer specific questions,” he said.
