I’ve done nothing to warrant impeachment — Fubara

According to Fubara, there is no valid reason or justification for his potential impeachment as he claims to have not engaged in any actions or behaviors that would warrant such consequences.

Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of River State who is currently facing numerous challenges and controversies, vehemently asserts that he has not engaged in any activities or committed any acts that would justify his impeachment by the state House of Assembly. On Monday, Fubara made a statement addressing his loyal followers at the Assembly Complex.

This occurred shortly after the House members, under the leadership of their Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, gathered to initiate the impeachment proceedings against him. The governor confidently addressed his supporters at the Assembly Complex, challenging those who wished to impeach him to publicly disclose any wrongdoing he had committed to justify such a drastic action.

He called upon them to step forward and openly share with the people of Rivers the specific offense he had allegedly committed. He added: “Let me assure the people of Rivers that I will continue to ensure that you reap the dividends of democracy. I will address the media at the appropriate time.”

The governor, who made a promise to the citizens of the state regarding the delivery of democratic benefits, expressed his intention to address this matter at the suitable juncture. According to an account, on Monday, a chaotic scene unfolded within the premises of the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex, involving the discharge of firearms and the deployment of teargas, as certain legislators convened to initiate an impeachment procedure against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

In addition to that, the lawmakers have taken the decision to suspend Edison Ehie, who is the leader of the House, as well as a number of their fellow colleagues who are suspected to be supporters of the governor. Several hours passed before the development took place, following a fire that erupted at the Assembly Complex on Sunday evening.
